Reduce waste

History of respect for the planet

In today's world, any responsible company must do everything possible to reduce waste and pollution levels. The future of our planet depends on our actions today! For many years now, L'OCCITANE has focused on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle waste, but we can do even more. And we are working on it!

Disturbing facts ...

By 2050, plastic in the ocean may be more than fish.

50% of the plastic in the world is used only once, and then discarded.

Over the past 10 years, people have produced more plastic than in the entire past century.

Our mission as a brand

TWO WAYS TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL:

1. JOINT DEVELOPMENT OF ECOLOGICAL PURE PACKAGING 2. ECOLOGICAL INNOVATION!

OUR GOAL:

TO ENSURE THAT BY 2025 100% OF OUR FLACONS ARE PRODUCED FROM 100% OF PROCESSED PLASTIC AND 100% OF OUR STORES ARE PROVIDED PACKAGING SERVICES.

Take action

100% RECYCLE PACKAGING FOR A LAST 10 YEARS OLD!

Do you know why the bottles of the Aromacology line are green? Because they are eco-friendly! In the cosmetic industry, we prefer to use transparent plastic, but for this line we have chosen colored bottles to make them from 100% recycled PET.
By 2025, we want to use recycled plastic for the production of all our bottles, and for this we cooperate with Loop Industries!

Many of our products are presented in eco-friendly replaceable units, in which 65% –90% less plastic is used than for a regular bottle. In 2017, we reduced the total amount of plastic used by 7% due to the fact that our customers are striving to choose environmentally friendly solutions. Therefore, when there is a choice, choose a more eco-friendly option! You will be glad to know about our plans to sell more eco-friendly replacement blocks in the future!

LOOP: QUALITATIVELY NEW TECHNOLOGY!

L'OCCITANE recently signed a multi-year contract with Loop Industries, which uses a revolutionary process for recycling plastic waste into clean food PET plastic. Thanks to this revolutionary technology, we will be able to achieve our goal of using 100% recycled plastic to make our bottles by 2025!

What's next?

ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN: A NEW LOOK AT PACKAGING

We prefer simple packaging: no frills! By reducing the thickness of the package, we have already reduced the amount of plastic used by 28 tons. And now we are planning to replace the cellophane protective membranes with new, environmentally friendly, degradable wood fiber membranes with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificate. We have ambitious plans!
